Flammkuchen with Figs, Serrano Ham and Goat Cheese

Flammkuchen is a delicious and fast dish which you can easily make by yourself. I use the prefabricated dough for the flammkuchen. This basis is perfect to serve a nice looking meal in ±30 minutes. Flammkuchen is a specialty of the historic regions around the French-German border. It is made by bread dough rolled out very thinly in the shape of a rectangle or oval, which is covered with  crème fraiche, thin-sliced red onions and lardons/bacon. But you can change the toppings in anything you like. The flammkuchen looks a bit like a pizza but the bottom is much thinner. I loved my version of this flammkuchen with figs, serrano, goat cheese and walnuts. Check this Flammkuchen food blog and others for more information and inspirations!

Flammkuchen are a very sophisticated side dish when you are having a wine with friends. You really make a good impression with this!

Flammkuchen with Figs, Serrano Ham and Goat Cheese: How to make it?

First preheat the oven at 200º. Roll the prefabricated dough on an oven plate with baking paper. Use the rolling pin to flatten the dough even more and make it even larger.

I cut the dough in two parts because all at ones it was too much for one meal. Divide all the ingredients in half if you want to do the same.

Flammkuchen before Oven Food; Food Blog Recipes and InspirationsNow the decorating already starts! Spread the fig chutney on the bottom as a base. On top of this start dividing the serrano ham, next the goat cheese, fresh figs and walnuts. Add some salt and pepper and if you like it sweeter, drip some honey over the flammkuchen. Add the plate in the oven for ±15 minutes and put it on a nice plate. Finish off with the rucola and your Flammkuchen is ready!!!
