Sardinia has the dreamiest beaches of Europe, including white sandy beaches and the clearest blue seas. Not only the more known by the celebrities area of Costa Smeralda’s but also the amazing bays of the Golf di Orosei, Costa Verde and not forgetting the Costa del Sud are stunning!! I have to admit, maybe a bit naive….. but Sardinia surprised me in a super positive way. See below the route I suggest you to take so you don’t miss out on anything of this beautiful and diverse Italian island. Sardinia is not only a great destination if you love beaches but also the mountains, food and culture lovers will adore Sardinia too!!
Start of this route is in Olbia and ends in Cagliari of course you can to the route other way around too. See the map with the seven colored parts of Sardinia that will respond to these places and sights below:
1: Northeast Sardinia: Costa Smeralda & La Maddalena
Arriving in Olbia, explore the Costa Smeralda, cruising the Arcipelago di La Magdalena, walking and relaxing in Arzachena & sunbathing in Cala Brandinchi. You will enjoy this beautiful area of Sardinia. Check the blog here.

In this East part of Sardinia the nature is overwhelming. The limestone mountains drop into the ocean in the nearby Golfo di Orosei. The cliffs are robust and melt down into the aquamarine waters. I understand that my way of traveling is not working for everybody. Couples that are adventurous and like to see and explore things can follow my route. For families with young kids they probably like to stay a longer time in one place. But I love to discover things so I slept only one or two days in one place and explored the area driving from one place to another. I did not book all my accommodation in advance. The first week I planned the route but after that I wanted to be free and book it along the route which is perfect to do with the booking.com app on my phone.
Go and explore Sardinia!!
