Nicaragua
Why I loved Nicaragua!
Nicaragua was the last country in Central America that I hadn’t visited so far. For that reason Nicaragua was on my shortlist of travel destinations for a couple of years. To be honest, I wanted to travel earlier, but first the political unrest in 2018 made it impossible to travel and then Covid withheld me from going to this fairly unknown country. I had high expectations after a long wait, but Nicaragua definitely did not disappoint me! On the contrary, I loved this Central America country! Nicaragua has it all; a real all-rounder of a county! It is a very divers travel destination, which is immensely popular among backpackers. The reason for this that it is very affordable, definitely if you compare it to the neighboring country Costa Rica. I jointed the backpackers stream going north and south through Central America, but in a more luxury way. No hostels but well-chosen boutique style accommodations with private bathrooms.
Like I said, Nicaragua has it all. Strolling through the streets of the stunning and historical towns of Granada and León. Book a table at one of the nicest restaurants in town or dance salsa in the many bars. You can enjoy the volcanos in different ways; climb one of the two volcanos on Isla Ometepe for a great view, watch the red lava bubbling at Parque Nacional Volcán Masaya, go volcano boarding in León, or just enjoy by looking at the perfect shape of them from a hammock. Sporty people will love Nicaragua as well, perfect for: kayaking volcanic lakes, surfing the best waves at the Pacific coast at Playa Maderas, climbing volcanoes on Isla Ometepe, swimming in turquoise waters, scuba diving and snorkeling with sharks at Littel Corn Island and horseback riding on the beach and many more! Beach lovers will enjoy the tropical beaches of Little Corn Island and the long-stretched beaches of San Jan del Sur. The nature is so lush, green, and colorful with the monkeys, birds, butterflies, and more exotic animals not far away.
Nicaragua is not the most visited country in Central America. Ok the political instability is a thing, so check in advance. Nicaragua is cheap, a definitely an all-rounder and lovely people! In all my separate blogs I will give you inspirations, information, and tips to plan your travel trip to Nicaragua. Hope you like it and please let me know! Why visiting the stunning Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua
