Energy Bowl: Frozen Bananas and Dalgona Coffee

Dalgona Coffee with Frozen Bananas!! How much energy do you need? The caffeine from the instant coffee gives you energy but the bananas too. Ok this is a sugar bomb as well, the natural sugars of the bananas and the sugar to make the Dalgona. What is Dalgona Coffee? This is a mixture of a whipped coffee foam mixed with hot milk or iced milk. I use only the coffee honeycomb structure for my energy breakfast. I skipped the milk part and replaced it with the frozen bananas to make a sweet and delicious smoothie bowl which will give you loads of energy! Check this Dalgona Coffee breakfast in this blog, but also my healthy delicious recipes in my other blogs.

What ingredients do you need for one Energy Bowl with Dalgona?

  • 15 minutes of your time
  • Blender
  • Mixer
  • Frozen bananas: 2 frozen bananas
  • Milk: 1 small cup, you can choose any milk you like, coconut, almond, rice or normal. The less you use the thicker the ice will become.
  • Instant coffee: 2 teaspoons, I used Nescafe
  • Hot water: 2 teaspoons
  • Sugar: 2 teaspoons

Toppings

  • Mixed nuts (good for additional protein and good fats)
  • Optional: chocolate nibs

How to make this Dalgona Energy Bowl?

Start mixing the equal proportions of the hot water, instant coffee and sugar in the mixer (or use a hand mixer). Whip till the structure is fluffy; will take around 5-8 minutes. Let the whipped coffee cool off and start with the rest of the bowl. Crush the nuts and set all the other toppings and bowl aside; this will save time to decorate and will keep the bowl frozen as much as possible.

Add the bananas in the blender and add some of the milk. Add more milk if needed, the less the better. If you see a smooth swirl in the blender the bowl is ready!! Take the coconut bowl and put banana ice in the bowl, more centred to one side. Add the Dalgona Coffee mixture to the other side and decorate with the nuts and chocolate.
