Scenic Sicily Travel Blogs
How would I describe Sicily? Sicily is a very divers Mediterranean island of the country Italy. Sicily has a lot to offer with each part of the island another highlight and changing landscape. The history of Sicily is impressive and both the Greeks and Romans left their marks on the island like Syracuse, Valley of the Temples (Agrigento), Selinunte and Teatro Greco (Taormina).
The Roman cities described above of course and many more. The Roman, Byzantine and Arab-Normans periods left a lot of beautiful churches and mosaics buildings like Cathedral di Monreale and Duomo di Cefalú. In the towns of Ragusa, Modica and Noto you will find Sicily’s best baroque cathedrals. Perfect to stroll around and have a cappuccino and some Italian sweets (cannoli). Italian and Sicilian cuisine are known for the delicious food and the famous Sicilian Marsala wines, I gained some kilo’s by my return…. Not only the architecture is great the nature and beaches are worth to visit too. From picture perfect deserted beach like Spiaggia di Piana Grande to the touristic and colorful umbrella and lounge beach of San Vito Lo Capo; the Italians love their sun.
The salt field between Marsala and Trapani are amazing to see and don’t forget the stunning Egadi Islands. The white cliffs of Scala dei Turchi near Realmonte, will give you the variety in your holiday. Visit the Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro by boat or by foot, both an amazing experience. The volcano Mt. Etna is not to miss when coming to Sicily. Like a said, for every person a reason to visit this amazing Mediterranean island!!
