Tokyo 3 Days City Guide
Tokyo is one of the most intense city trips I have ever done. It is exciting, stylish, busy, overwhelming and surprisingly easy to travel around once you understand the rhythm of the city. I visited Tokyo at the end of my two-week Japan route; which I started in Osaka, Kyoto, Takayama and Mount Fuji. For me, that worked well. I was happy I did not start in Tokyo, because the city is a lot to take in. By the time I arrived, I already understood the trains, the small hotel rooms, the food culture and the polite Japanese way of doing things. That made Tokyo easier to enjoy.
I stayed in Asakusa, which was a good base for my first visit. It felt calmer than areas like Shibuya or Shinjuku, but still had enough restaurants, shops and transport nearby. From there, I explored Tokyo over three full days. My route included Asakusa, Shibuya, Harajuku, Meiji Shrine, Shinjuku, Tsukiji Outer Market, Hamarikyu Gardens, Ginza and Ueno. It was a lot, but it gave me a good first impression of the city. I walked more than 20,000 steps almost every day, so Tokyo is not exactly a relaxing citytrip. It is more a city you dive into. Tokyo is perfect if you love food, shopping, city views, design, small streets, big crossings and places that feel completely different from one neighborhood to the next. It can be tiring, overwelming but it os an unforgettable experience!!
Planning your own Tokyo citytrip? Start with choosing the right area to stay. Then plan your days by neighborhood, not by attraction. Tokyo is huge, and your feet will thank you later. Hope my blog will help you to plan your Tokyo trip, and please check my stories on Instagram too, let me know!
Best Area to Stay in Tokyo: Why I Chose Asakusa
If you are visiting Tokyo for the first time and keep doubting where to stay, I get it. I had exactly the same problem. In the end, I chose Asakusa for four nights, and after staying here myself, I do think it is one of the best areas to stay in Tokyo for a first...
