Sicily is an Italian Mediterranean Island; with the most amazing turquoise waters, white beaches, stunning coastline, heritage of architectural pieces from Byzantine to Baroque, the volcano Etna and of course the food and wines makes the trip complete. No reason not to visit this beautiful island next to Sardinia. See here my two weeks route I drove around Sicily with all its varieties. I started my round around the island in Catania, because my plane arrived here from Amsterdam, but you can start the same route from Palermo; enjoy beautiful Sicily!!
This route if very intense, 1 or max 2 nights in one place and drive and see a lot; so, take your time to relax as well!
You can do the round the other way around too, it is more that in this route you cover most highlights of Sicily and time for relaxation as well.

East Sicily
Pick up your rental car at the Catania airport and drive up to the Mount Etna; climb Europe’s largest active volcano and book a room near the foot of the Etna. More East Sicily at the end of the trip when we visit Taormina and Catania. Night: ±1
Southeast Sicily
Next morning drive along the coast; stop and visit Syracuse and Isla di Ortigia and drive onwards to fisher town of Marzameni. Find a nice agriturismo to stay the night. Next day visit the Baroque villages of Noto and Modica where I booked one night. Leaving Modica and driving to the nearby Ragusa for breakfast and some more history in the old town. Nights: ±2
South Sicily
After Ragusa it is a long drive to Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples. Admire the Greek creation from the road and sleep in the beach town of Realmonte. The same evening and next morning you can visit the natural wonder of Scala dei Turchi or White Wall. After some beautiful stops along the Mediterranean coast you will arrive in Selinunte; an ancient Greek city. Visit the archaeological park and drive through the wine fields to the glamping accommodation on the most Southwestern point of Sicily; Spiaggia di Puzziteddu. Time to chill at the beach and feel the African vibe in Mazara del Vallo. Nights: ±3
West Sicily
Time to taste the famous Sicilian Marsala wine in Marsala; visit one of the oldest wine producers Cantine Pellegrino. From here drive along the coast with the white and pink salt fields with flamingos and windmills to Trapani. Next day go sailing to the Egadi Islands and swim in the most clear and turquoise waters. Nights: ±2
Northwest Sicily
Next morning drive up to the hilltop village of Erice where you have spectacular views over the coast and Egadi Islands. Drive up to the Italian holiday destination of San Vito Lo Capo. Chill some on the beach and book a boat tour to the Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro for the next day. Nights: ±2
Palermo Region Sicily
After the beach time in San Vito Lo Capo, time for some city vibes in the capital of Sicily: Palermo. But not before you make a stop at the stunning Cattedrale di Monreale in Monreale. Wander through the streets of the vibrant city with amazing historical buildings in Palermo. Visit the markets and go shopping; enough to do here. Before heading to the North part of Sicily, visit the nearest beach town of Palermo; Mondello. Nights: ±2
North Sicily
Drive along the Tyrrhenian Coast to Cefalù. Visit the gorgeous beach and admire another mosaic treasure. Continue your way on this coastal road with stunning views all the way to Milazzo. Take the boat to the Aeolian Islands if you have the time or continue the circle to East Sicily. Nights: ±2
East Sicily
From Milazzo you drive via the busy roads of Messina to the most beautiful ancient theatre in Taormina; save the best for last! Stroll in the beautiful centre or chill on the nearby beaches. Next day drive back to Catania for a short stop before your flight back home. Nights: ±2
